Biography

Satinder Sartaaj is an Indian Punjabi Singer and song writer. His songs are profound poems, which are an infusion of Punjabi culture and Sufi Mysticism. Sartaaj was born and raised in Bajrawar, a sleepy village in the Hoshiarpur district of Punjab, to an ordinary family of farmers. He began performing at an early age on stage, which motivated him to pursue music. His educational career shows the dominance of the Sufiana music embedded in his mind and heart with his PhD in Specialisation of Sufi Music and later a doctorate in Sufi singing (gayan) from Punjab University. Before his rise to fame, Satinder Sartaaj participated in and won many musical events, including an appearance on the ‘Zee Antakshari Show’ (a popular Indian musical show) where he won appreciation with his performance in the ‘Folk’ category. He was also runner up in the 24th ‘All-India Light Vocal’ Festival and topped ‘Punjab Heritage Foundation’ competitions. He made his debut in Punjabi Music Industry with , ‘Mehfil-E-Sartaaj – Live Concert’ in 2009 . Some of the popular tracks of this album were , ‘Sai’ , ‘Ammi’ , ‘Dil’ , ‘Paani’ among many others. He is continuously to rising in Punjabi music industry.
